Enjoy!

Hello Mojo!

When I saw this week's Mojo 93 sketch yesterday, I wanted to incorporate the Hand Drawn Bundle designer paper with the Giraffe from the new Animal Stories sneak peek set. So this morning, I quickly put it together and I'm so glad that the idea in my head actually translated pretty well into the actual design! Here's the card I came up with:As you can see, I used some new stuff along with some soon-to-be "old stuff" - today is the last day you can qualify to get this Hand Drawn Bundle Designer Series Paper, which is a Level 1 Hostess Set.
Here's the recipe (all supplies Stampin'Up! except Nestabilities scallop square):
*Animal Stories and Teenie Tiny Wishes stamp sets
*Hand Drawn Bundle DSP, Baja Breeze, Whisper White and Soft Suede textured cardstock
*Baja Breeze and Soft Suede Classic Ink Pads, Chocolate Chip Marker
*Soft Suede Polka dot grosgrain ribbon, jumbo and mini brads
*Nestabilities scallop square; scallop oval, large and small oval punches
Hope you like it! Thanks for popping by today!

Freebie Friday 25 Blog Candy Winner!

Hi there blog buddies! Happy Monday to you all! I had such a great time reading about everyone's favorite (and some not so favorite, but memorable) birthday memories for this past Freebie Friday question. Thanks so much too, for all the Birthday wishes! You guys are awesome and all the greetings brought a smile to my face :) Despite my actual birthday being on the same day that will forever be remembered as the day that Michael Jackson died, I still managed to have a great birthday. My husband made me a delicious dinner that instigated the eating fest that ensued the rest of the weekend.

As promised, it's my turn to share one of my most memorable birthday memories - it was my 30th birthday... So, the day before, I didn't understand why Michael was so adamant about cleaning the house - my birthday was in the middle of the week, so it wasn't like we were going to have any people over..... or so I thought. Then, on the day of my birthday when I got home from work - all disheveled, mind you - I came home to a houseful of people who all yelled "Surprise" when I walked in the door! I couldn't believe it, because I truly had no idea that that was coming! It was the greatest surprise and I have Michael and all my friends to thank for making it such a fun and memorable day! Michael cooked Lasagna for everyone too - what a sweet fiance he was! (We got married in August of that year.) It was a great birthday.

So, are we ready to hear who the lucky winner of the Freebie Friday 25 blog extravaganza is? The winner of the blog candy is....Lucky #6, who happens to be Martha! WooHoo! Congrats to you, Martha - please email me so I can send you your fun BLOG candy!

Thanks to all of you who left comments and played another round of Freebie Friday! Have a great start to your week!

New cards added to my Etsy Store

Hi there and happy Sunday! Boy, has this weekend been a busy one! We had all kinds of family events this weekend - from birthdays, friend get-togethers and weddings, so we were running around all over Orange County and the South Bay. It was lots of fun, though I wish we had an extra day to recoup. I tell ya - it was also quite the eating fest, so I know I'm gonna have to schedule lots of exercise over the next few weeks before our vacation!

Believe it or not, on top of all that business, I was actually able to do some "virtual housekeeping" this evening. I thought I'd update you and let you know that I added a few new cards to my Etsy store...if you've visited my blog before, you've actually seen them featured here, so if you happen to be interested in any cards you've seen on my site, you can check out what's available at my Etsy store!Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Freebie Friday 25 Blog Candy Extravaganza!

Okay, did the title for today's post pique your interest? I am very excited about today's Freebie Friday Blog Candy, because this is by far the biggest giveaway to date on my blog! But there's a lot to celebrate this week! First of all, it's my birthday week, woohoo!! and second of all, I just surpassed 50,000 blog hits this week, which I am super excited about. I never thought I would get so into blogging, but it's been a great outlet for me, and I've enjoyed sharing my ideas with you all! So, without any further adieu, here is this week's Freebie Friday giveaway:
Here's what you get:
*3' of polka dot grosgrain ribbon in each of the new In Colors
*Bitty Basics Stamp Set
*Loopy Flowers Decorative Sizzlit Strip
I think it's pretty fun candy - you'll get about $40 of FREE product! The ribbons are so pretty in person and the Loopy Flowers Sizzlit strip is just awesome - the flower images are so cute! You can dress up a scrapbook page or card front pretty quickly! It works with the Big Shot and I'm sure it would work in the Cuttlebug, but you will need to have the decorative sizzlit cutting pads and spacer platform. And of course, last but not least is this adorable Bitty Basics stamp set - it's a handy little set that's great to have for a quick card or tag for any occasion!

In order to play, all you need to do is leave me a comment on this post with your email address or blog url (basically, enough information so I can contact you) by Midnight Saturday, June 27th. The winner will be announced on Monday's blog post, so you can check back then. You can leave me a comment about anything or you can answer the following question: What's your most memorable Birthday memory? I'll share mine with you all on Monday :) In the meantime, I do look forward to reading your comments!

Oh - I wanted to make a quick mention about last week's ice cream favorites! Looks like there's a lot of Mint Chip lovers among you readers and there was a decent number of you that also like the Mocha Almond Fudge, too! Or those that didn't discriminate on flavors so long as it's chocolate. It's a lot of fun finding out more about you all, so thanks so much for leaving me comments (on any days, really) and playing on my Freebie Fridays! You're the best!

My cute little Mini!

Okay - I just had to share a couple pics of my new Dell Mini. I've had it for a few days now and I have to say I really love it! It's small and easy to take around with me anywhere in the house, or take on the road even! What I love about it so far is that I can be working on my blog or checking out other blogs while I watch TV or sit on the couch with my hubby and kitty. I know that sounds funny, but our computer is in a different room, so when I'm doing stuff on it, I'm sort of "away" from the family. So now, I anticipate all kinds of together time in the evening. On the couch. In front of the TV. Here it is:I love that it's RED. I think that's my true all time favorite color.
Here's a picture with my coffee cup, to give you the size perspective. Although, I have to say that my coffee cup is slightly on the bigger side than the average coffee cup. The screen is 10.1" which I think is a decent size. It's pretty easy to navigate and with our FiOS internet connection, it's super FAST!

So thanks for letting me share my new toy with you. I hope you have a great day today!

RAK from Aimee!

Just wanted to share the fun card and "candy" I got in the mail the other day from my friend, Aimee Gandara, a fellow demonstrator and blogger!Isn't that the cutest card? She used all new goodies from the upcoming Stampin'Up! catalog, which will be available to order from in just a few more days....

I wasn't expecting the card at all - aren't those the best kind to get?! It definitely brought a smile to my face! Have a great one!

A little Raspberry Mojo Hi!

I love it when I can combine card challenges! Tonight, I'm sharing a card I put together for the Mojo Monday 92 sketch and the Raspberry Suite 10 Color Challenge.
I love the colors in this week's Raspberry Suite challenge - it's a palette I use pretty often! The colors I used were Regal Rose, Cameo Coral, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla. Here's a picture of my full card:Are you wondering what that new die shape is that I used? Well, believe it or not, it's the Top Note Die! I can't say I came up with the idea on my own, I sort of translated the idea that I saw from a card posted in the Stampin'Up! Stamper's Showcase that us demos get to view. It's the Top Note Die with a new facelift. I tell you, I love that die - it's so versatile! Here's what I did. Run a sheet of cardstock on the top note die to get the initial die cut image. Then, reposition the die cut image back on the top note die, turning it 180 degrees and centering it back on the top note die. Run it through. Now, you should have a squar-ish shape rather than the original rectangular-ish shape. I went a little further and "trimmed" the shape some more, running through the top note die until I got my desired smaller rectangular curvy-edged shape. Here's a closer look of the die, at an angle:I was really so excited to discover a new way to use this die! Did you also notice the sneak peek stamps I used to make my own background paper? These stamps are from the Circle Circus set and the images are stamped in Regal Rose and Cameo Coral.
Here are the supplies I used (all Stampin'Up!):
*Regal Rose and Very Vanilla cardstock, Chocolat DSP (retired)
*Top Note Bigz die
*Circle Circus stamp set
*Regal Rose and Cameo Coral Classic stamp pads, Chocolate Chip Craft pad
*1 3/4", 1 3/8", 1" circle punches, small oval, trio flower, and scallop border punches
*Chocolate Chip corduroy button, linen thread, Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon, Very Vanilla brad
*Chipboard letters
What do you think? Hope you like it!

I appreciate you coming by! Chat with you next time...

A little bird...

Hello there! Today's card share uses a bunch of embossing and die cuts, punches, and some freehand cutting too. There is a teenie bit of stamping as well - for the sentiment! While you've seen that I've had a thing for owls, I've also developed a love of other fowl too...birds! Here's one cute little bird on a branch...As you can see, I had all kinds of fun with my Big Shot for this card! The bird is actually a Nestabilities die - one of my purchases from the Creating Keepsakes vendor fair from a few weeks ago. The dies were just too cute to pass up! I embossed the bird with the Stampin'Up! Texturz plates and also embossed the branch and background too! The branch was cut freehand from a scrap of Chocolate Chip cardstock (I'm trying to utlize my scraps!). The scallop square is a Sizzix Clear die, which I just love!
Here's the recipe - except for the Nestabilities Birdie, all other supplies are Stampin'Up!:
*Bird Nestabilities die, Scallop Square clear die
*Texturz Plates Kit #4, Stampin'Up Backgrounds Texturz 1
*Scallop oval, large and small oval punches
*Teenie Tiny Wishes stamp set
*Rose Red stamp pad
*So Saffron, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Confetti White, and Whisper White card stock; Rose Red and So Saffron DSP
*Button, Certainly Celery cardstock thread
Hope you like it - thanks for stopping by today! I didn't get a chance to work on my Mojo card yesterday, but hopefully, I'll get some time later on. See you later!

Kwerner Color Inspiration Challenge 55

Morning all - it's a drizzly Saturday morning here in CA. So, in the midst of my chores this morning, I found time to create a card for Kristina's Color Challenge 55. When I first saw the colors, I have to say that I wasn't really sure what to do - it's definitely a new color scheme for me. Then after I did some blog browsing this morning, I was inspired by the card design from Mary Fish's Father's Day card on her blog today. I liked the look of the tiled squares, so I thought I'd give it a try. First, let me show you what the colors are for Kristina's challenge this week:Here's my full card:
I experimented with scrunching up the ribbon - I wasn't sure how that was gonna come out, but I think I do like it afterall! I used a piece of sticky strip and put that on the card, then just applied the ribbon on top, scrunching it along as I went across. I was surprised at how well the sticky strip held the ribbon. That's some good adhesive. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the card and my attempt at this new color scheme. I like it with the In Colors! What do you think?
Here's the recipe:
*Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die
*Razzle Dazzle and Oval all stamp sets
*Dusty Durango and Crushed Curry textured cardstock and markers; Very Vanilla and Basic Gray cardstock
*Basic Gray taffeta ribbon and corduroy brads; very vanilla brad
*1 1/4" square, scallop oval and large oval punches
Thanks for coming by! Have a great day!

Freebie Friday 24!

Hey there blog friends - Happy Freebie Friday! You all know how much I love purses, so I thought I'd make one for today's giveaway. This little purse is in Crushed Curry, one of the upcoming In Colors in the Stampin'Up! catalog. I'm calling it my Curry Safari Purse. It's a perfect size to hold a couple small candy treats - this one has some Mini Reeses Peanut Butter Cups for you. Here's the view from the front.
Here's the side view - you can see that there's a little cello bag in between to hold the treats. Hope you like it!

Are you ready to play? All you need to do is leave me a comment on this post with your email address or blog url (basically, enough information so I can contact you) by Midnight Saturday, June 20th. The winner will be announced on Monday's blog post, so you can check back then. You can leave me a comment about anything or you can answer the following question: What's your favorite ice cream flavor? Mine is Mocha Almond Fudge and second favorite is coffee...can you see a theme here? I love that sweet coffee taste - yum! If you don't do ice cream, then tell me what your favorite summertime dessert is! Look forward to reading some fun comments!

Oh - I also wanted to share that next week's Freebie Friday is definitely gonna be worth playing for - not only will it be my Birthday Week, but it looks like I'll be hitting my 50,000 hits sometime next week too! Woohooo! Definitely worth celebrating, so come back and visit then too ;)

Have a great day!

Here's the Front of my Pop Up Card

After much deliberation on what to do for the front, I decided to go with the idea of the Cars going to the birthday party......there they all go, with birthday hats and all! I made the curves of the road with the 1 3/4" and 1/2" circle punches. Basically, I made a donut and then cut it in half. My roadside bushes are made from the trio flower punch and the party hats are a la the Party Hearty stamp set.

Hope you like it! :) Thanks for coming by. See you tomorrow for Freebie Friday!

My first Cake Pop-up Card!

Hello there! Today's share is gonna be a quick one...I made my first pop up card! I was inspired to create this particular cake for my Godson who's turning 2 soon...he's very into cars. At first, I thought this would be tricky to assemble, but it was actually a piece of cake! (heehee - had to throw that in there!) Here's a close up view: Hope you like it! I created my "road" with black cardstock and did the striping with the white gel pen. The cars I used are actually from a retired set called Going Somehwere. I have to still do the front of the card, so I'll share that with you guys next...hopefully later today. Bye for now. Have a good one!!

Melon Mambo Mojo

How about trying to say that five times fast! Melon Mambo's got to be my favorite new In Color! I just love the rich pink color of this new shade. It also coordinates really well with the Crushed Curry color - so bold and yummy together! Today, I'm sharing my Mojo Monday card showecasing some more Sneak Peek stuff from Stampin'Up!'s upcoming catalog. How do you like the little snippet of the card so far? Well, here's what this week's sketch looks like:I really like that the card is a "tall and skinny" this week. The dimensions of my finished card are 3"x6." It's fun to change up the card sizes every now and then. Are you ready to see the full card? Here it is:Hope you like it! I love the new Designer Series Papers that Stampin'Up! has in its upcoming catalog. The flower print DSP I used is from the Tall Tales Desinger Series Paper that coordinates with the Animal Stories set. The yellow polka dotted background behind the elephant is also from that paper pack - it's actually what's on the other side of the flowers. I distressed the edges using the paper distressing tool to give the paper that aged, roughed up look. Here's the recipe:
*Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry textured cardstock, Whisper White cardstock and Tall Tales DSP
*Animal Stories and Wings of Friendship stamp sets
*Crushed Curry polka dot grosgrain ribbon; Trio Flower, 1/4" circle, Wide Oval and Scallop Oval punches
Thanks for peeking in! Bye for now.

Learning about lighting

Not sure if you've noticed from my last few posts, but I've been tinkering with the lighting in my photos, thanks to Lisa Spangler's awesome tutorial! Well, I decided to post a couple of pictures from another card I made for Dawn's Raspberry Challenge#9 and Lisa's Scribble This! Card and Photo challenge:Here are the cards...First let's start with the original card... and this is the card adjusted for lighting below.
By playing with the Lighting and Levels settings in Photoshop Elements, I was able to make this card perk up a little. Lisa's techniques showed me how to take the "gray" out of the cards, and I've learned a lot about brightening my blog photos! Her tutorial is AWESOME! Hope I've "exposed" you to a fun new blog to visit (pun intended - heehee!) Thanks for coming by!

If it's Monday, it's Freebie Friday winner time.

Wow - is it really Monday already? Well, then that means it's time to announce the Freebie Friday winner, who gets the fun sampler tags pictured on the right. Thanks to you all that left me comments for all the book suggestions - I will need to take a look at the list I made and see which books to bring with me when I go on vacation!

So, let's get this show on the road, shall we? The comment from the winner this week almost seems like she had a premonition! You'll see what I mean....So, drumroll please. This week, I did the random integer generator, which I've found to be much easier than typing all the names in. So the lucky winner is:Lucky number 7, who happens to be Winthrop! Now, just so you see what I mean, here's her comment:Congrats Winthrop! I will definitely email you and let you know you won! Thanks to all of you again for playing another week of Freebie Friday. I really do enjoy doing it and especially reading your comments and finding out more about you!

Have a great week!

My Little Sleepy Cat

Just thought I'd share a cute picture of my kitty sleeping. Michael took the picture yesterday when Oliver was taking a quick little catnap on the window sill - one of his favorite perches in our house.Isn't Ollie such a cute little guy? He's actually a pretty big kitty - probably around 15-16 lbs! Although he thinks he's a little kitty. Have a great day!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge 9

Hi again! Ok - so I got a little distracted in my craft room organization project...but, I was able to come up with a card for Dawn's Raspberry Suite #9 Challenge using my other Sneak Peek stamp set called Wings of Friendship! I was in the midst of putting my new goods away when I saw the paper from the Lovely Flowers Hostess set bundle..you'll see it below...so that planted the idea in my head to use that. Plus, you'll see that I used the Scallop Square die..I actually got this yesterday at the Vendor Faire I mentioned in my previous post :) Here's the card I came up with:What do you think? The finished card is 5"x5" and I used the following Stampin'Up! colors: Old Olive, Basic Black, and Very Vanilla. Here's the recipe:

Updated My Etsy store

Hello there and happy Sunday! I finally had a chance to upload some cards onto My Etsy site this morning:I know it's been a while since I've posted anything (as a matter of fact, the only other time I posted was when I opened my store!) I know that's terrible, isn't it? Well, my goal moving forward is to try and upload a few new things to my store each weekend, so if you've been interested in any cards I've posted on my blog, you might want to check there to see if it's available!

On another note, I had a chance to make a quick stop at the Creating Keepsakes Vendor Faire in Pasadena yesterday. I didn't take any classes, but wanted to check out what fun new items they had at the vendor faire. You may see a few things I bought in some upcoming posts!

My goal this weekend was to straighten up my craft room...I sort of started yesterday, but I need to finish up today. It's quite the process for me, but I'm motivated to keep things neat and tidy so I can keep track of all my new supplies and toys I've recently acquired from my SU sneak peek stuff and the goodies I procured from my vendor faire outing yesterday! Let me tell you...I probably did more damage than I should have, but I figure that I would use them for my store :) Well, I better get going...my craft room organization project is calling! Have a great day!

Aren't these new In Colors fun? This little color sampler giveaway comes with a sample tag of each of the following:
*the textured cardstock
*the stamp pads
*the markers
all topped off with the polka dotted grosgrain ribbon in each color. How's that for a little giveaway to get you psyched up for the new catalog coming in July? If you're wondering where I got the cute little pre-printed in color swatch tags, I got them here at Anne Beale Yancy's blog! What a great tool, don't you think?

To play for this week's Freebie Friday, please leave me a comment on this post with your email address or blog url (basically, enough information so I can contact you) by Midnight Saturday, June 13th. The winner will be announced on Monday's blog post, so you can check back then. I'll actually be drawing 2 winners because I haven't heard back from last week's Freebie Friday winner. (So, Robyn, if you're out there, email me back please!)

You can leave me a comment about anything or you can answer the following question: What is the last (or current) book you've read or are reading? I'm in a book club, so right now, the book I'm reading is Pillars of the Earth, I'm not that far into it yet, but from what I've read so far, it's been really good! I'd love to get some suggestions for summer reading since I'll be going on vacation next month and would love to bring a book or 2. Look forward to your comments! Have a great Friday!

Mojo 90 card...at last!

Whew!!! This was a tough one for me. It took me some time to figure out what I wanted to do for this week's Mojo Sketch 90. I was hoping that I would have my sneak peek stuff, but since that's not coming til today (can't wait!), I decided to pay some tribute to a favorite retiring background stamp of mine - the Baroque background stamp. Wanna see the full card? First, let me share the sketch for this week:Very geometric sort of card this week with the square shapes, which ended up alluding me for a while as to what to do. So, here's what I came up with:As some of you who've visited my blog in the last few weeks will notice, I'm still very into doing the distressed flower! Here, I also added a touch of cinched up double stitched chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon as the outer flower. I love that ribbon flower look too! The corduroy buttons are also a fun acessory I've enjoyed using to embellish the cards. I finally got some twine in my last order, so i tied a bit of that through the button holes. Hope you like it!

Thanks for coming by today :)

Wow! What a nice surprise!

I am such a happy girl right now! No, my catalog didn't come in the mail this evening. But something equally fulfilling (on a personal crafty girl level)....I just discovered that I made it to Kristina's Werner's Color Challenge #53 roundup! WooHoo!!! {Imagine a happy dance here} How cool is that!!?! Here's a snapshot of the top 13 cards in the roundup. You can check out my sailboat card from my post here. I feel like such a little kid in a candy store right now! I am really so thrilled that Kristina picked my card - yay! That definitely helps take the edge off my wait for my new SU catty and sneak peek stuff!!

I still need to work on my Mojo Card...maybe now I'll have some new inspiration :) Catch you all in a bit!

Chomping at the bit for the In Colors!

I really am chomping at the bit to get my Sneak Peek package! But alas, no dice for me until tomorrow. In the meantime, I have been inspired by some color schemes that are somewhat in the In Color spectrum, like the picture above of a pillow from Anthropologie. It sort of reminded me of this combination of In Colors: I'd say there's a bit of the Rich Razzleberry in that print, too. The ruffle is probably closer to the Taken with Teal color, but still...I've got the In Colors on the brain! In the meantime, I guess I need to wait patiently till the package arrives.

What do you think of the color combo above? I'm gonna try something different today - no formal challenge or anything, but if you come up with a card using the colors above and would like to share with all the peeps that come by and visit, feel free to leave me a comment with a link to your card so we can check it out and get inspired!

In the meantime, I better get my day going...Have a good one :) Bye for now! Oh - I didn't get a chance to do my Mojo card yesterday, so stay tuned for that hopefully later today...
